The Center for Engineering MechanoBiology (CEMB) invites you to join us on June 16 11am EST, for the Future Leaders in Mechanobiology seminar series. This monthly seminar series aims to put a spotlight on early-stage, up-and-coming leaders in mechanobiology. The talk, titled “Plant mechanotransduction: The role of PIEZO ion channel in sensing external forces in plants” will be given by Seyed Ali Reza Mousavi, PhD, postdoctoral fellow at Scripps/HHMI.

REGISTER HERE to receive access to the Zoom link for Melina Gyparaki’s talk on May 12, 11am EST.

About the CEMB and Future Leaders in Mechanobiology series: The Center for Engineering MechanoBiology (CEMB) is a multi-institutional Science and Technology Center funded by the NSF to advance the study of mechanical forces in molecules, cells, and tissues in plants and animals. We aim to train the next generation of scientists, engineers, researchers, and leaders to become life-long learners and to look across disciplines to understand and control force in living systems.

Future Leaders in Mechanobiology is a monthly seminar series featuring the strongest and most diverse PhD students and postdocs in mechanobiology. By providing an international stage to share one’s work and opportunities to interact with researchers at all career stages, we aim to create an inclusive and valuable series for early-stage researchers and the mechanobiology community as a whole. Future Leaders in Mechanobiology will meet via Zoom the second Wednesday of the month, at 11am ET (8am PT, 10am CT), and all are welcome to attend.
