Amanda Cottone, Ed.D.

Postdoctoral Associate in Education

Amanda Cottone joined the CEMB part-time in May 2019 as a postdoctoral associate in science education to help facilitate the education initiatives of the Research Experience for Teachers (RET) program.  She graduated with her educational doctorate from Penn’s Graduate School of Education, where she is also currently working with Dr. Susan Yoon on various K12 biology teacher professional development projects. Her Ed.D. research focused on understanding how authentic research experiences in undergraduate introductory biology courses affect students’ achievement and attitudes towards learning science. While her current science teaching experience focuses on microbial and molecular biology, Amanda also has research and fieldwork experience in the fields of herpetology, ecology, and evolutionary biology.
